Headset and Cables

This is an important part of the bike, as every control except the back brake is operated from here. I spent a lot of time getting it right, making sure cables and wiring, brackets are positioned correcly. I used a straightened wire coat hanger to thread the outer tubing for the front brake and speedo cables.

Headset
Again, we had to shave a lot of the excess paint from the gear change sleeve using the small blade on a swiss army knife. The plastic red dot that goes on top of the headset I need to find, as the one on there was damaged.

Cables
I replaced all cables on the bike with new inners and outers. I spent a lot of frustrating time with the cables, as I had forgotten about the little end caps that keep the cable located snugly in the brackets for the gears and accelerator. Also the outers kept falling down the body, an easy way to get them back is to just hold the inner at the other end push on the outer.

Speedo
The speedo worked when I took it out but was in very ordinary condition. I purchased new glass, faceplate, and chrome surround, painted the needle and took the whole lot down to Howard's Instruments where they rebuilt it for about $90.
