Interior - New Belts

New Seatbelt installation (Sept 04)
The old non-original three point seatbelts in the front were troublesome.  You had to be careful getting in and out of the car otherwise the belt would fall out and hit against the door.

After reading an article on fitting retractable seatbelts on the Old Holden website, I picked up some Klippan front inertia retractable belts (K2255 model) for about $65 each from Autobarn. The instructions want the seat belt retractor to be mounted to the side of the pillar at the base but I had no anchorage points seeing these type of belts weren't around in 1957.

I secured the retractor to a metal bracket bought at Bunnings and used high tensile bolts and a nylon nut to attach to the bracket. The bracket bolts to the floor using the supplied seatbelt bolt (also high tensile) and a big square washer spreads the load underneath.

The final result looks pretty good, is safer and more functional. The back seat already has fixed three point belts but I'm planning on changing them to inertia style type in the future.
